Dunkelkammer (Darkroom)

- Chaotic and infernal German hardcore in the 90′s
- 45 minutes of ‘Kraut Rock’ mayhem with a guest appearance by San Diego’s Swing Kids
Dunkelkammer was a special project primarily compiled for the German Mafia-Forum.de messageboard. Most of the footage was shot in basements or shack like youth centers under dire lighting conditions, hence the title “Darkroom”. This little film features Germany’s prime violence and choas bands of their day, not to mention the ‘guest appearence’ by San Diego’s Swing Kids covering a classic Joy Division song.

2007 …A Dance Odyssey

- A tale of shameless house- and loft parties
- 50 minutes of sweaty bodies, outragous dance tunes and gigantic blisters
- Non-filtered full on guerilla style camera work
- Watch the complete film on YouTube
This 50min film depicts the sweat and the joyous energy erruptions at New York City underground parties. These events mostly take place off the beaten path and are promoted by word of mouth and e-mail lists only. For a few bucks one is in for a no bullshit rollercoaster ride and a whole lot of ‘anything goes’ atmosphere. Sometimes all it really takes to raise the roof are 20 people and plenty of cheap booze…

In Leatherface’s anthem ‘Do the right thing’ Frankie Stubbs blurts out: “Don’t underestimate the underdogs / they can beat the world and come back for more / they can dance and romance / and drink the night into coma.” That much for the abridged version.
Operating at levels of intoxication only seen by few, the Floridian band conquered every single punk dive this world has to offer and yes, theyusually came back for more. It was not like ‘another city left wrecked behind’, Instead, their audiences were deeply moved by the sincerity and compassion that was offered. Hot Water Music glued us all together again, creating friendships, hangovers, and the feeling that it all still made sense. Honesty that no fucking MTV clown could ever offer. In a sometimes painfully and self-revealing manner the UN:ART:IG crew documented – under rigid conditions or until the camera broke – what comes down as the most creative years of the only punk band of their era touring the Black Flag way: 200+ p.a. and no overdubs.
